It’s amazing what you can find when you’re walking along the water’s edge. While strolling along the beach I spotted a translucent round object floating in the waves. On my way back, I noticed it had washed ashore. It was a Moon Jelly, sometimes known as a saucer jellyfish. So beautiful!

This jellyfish is quite common in tropical and subtropical waters. It’s part of the regular diet of turtles and large fish, and some people find it to be a tasty treat. These beautiful jellyfish have only a mild sting. They only live for about six months, but in this short lifespan they may shelter small fish in their tentacles providing a micro habitat for hiding out. Great news, if you’re a small fish.
